Description

Share your passion for scuba diving by becoming a PADI Divemaster. As a divemaster you'll supervise scuba diving activities and assist with scuba classes. PADI Divemaster is the first step in your diving career.
Structure.
Becoming a Professional is for those that have already achieved a minimum of 40 dives, and rescue diver status, and be prepared to purchase or own most of your own equipment.
(It is possible to bring you to this level, however you need to be available for three months minimum, as the time period for someone already prepared is somewhere around two weeks to two months - four days a week - 2 dives a day).
Foundations of training will be, but not limited to:
Discussions on the professional role of a Divemaster.
Agency and ISO requirements.
Classroom presentations and theory.
Standards and evaluation.
Skills review as set by standards in peer style training.
Emergency First Response review / update.
Dry water skills workshops to help you teach your future students.
Wet water skills workshops to help you teach your future students.
Navigation, whilst shadowing an Experienced instructor.
Review line laying / penetration of wreck / DSMB.
Limited visibility diving and deep Diving scenarios.
Dive table standard AIR or Nitrox and gas planning.
Equipment selection / Maintenance and components.
Mobility / PADI "dive today" Inclusive for all and land transport considerations.
PADI and local law, requirements and GDPR.

Candidates that show aptitude for diving and wish to progress with further knowledge may continue on with the PADI TEC40 (https://www.padi.com/courses/tec-40).

Academic

To earn your Divemaster rating, you will complete a series of knowledge development sessions, water skill workshops and hands-on assessments for the following:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
  • Scuba diver safety and risk management
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills
  • Business of diving and your career
  • Awareness of the dive environment
  • Scuba gear setup and management
  • Mapping an open water site
  • Conducting dive briefings
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive
  • Conducting PADI ReActivate scuba refresher and skin diver course
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

Your instructor may also offer the PADI Deep Diver and Search and Recovery Diver specialty diver courses along with your Divemaster training to help you meet all requirements and to broaden your abilities.

You may be able to get college credit for the Divemaster course - ask your instructor.
